MINEOLA NATURE PRESERVE

ON THE SABINE RIVER

(CITY OF MINEOLA 3,000 ACRE PROJECT)

OPEN 7 DAYS A WEEK                 7:00 a.m. to sunset

LOCATION:  The Preserve is located south of Mineola on (Cap Ranch Road) CR 2724.  It is on the east side of U.S. Highway 69.  Turn east on FM 564 (new loop from FM 564 to Hwy 80), go 4/10ths of a mile and then turn right on CR 2724 and go 1.5 miles east to the Preserve entrance..

PARTNERS:  Texas Parks & Wildlife Department., National Fish & Wildlife Foundation, East Texas Woods & Water Foundation, Wood County Industrial Commission, Friends of the Preserve, Audubon Society of Tyler, TX., Mineola Kiwanis Club, and Mineola Development, Inc.

SCOPE:   Phase 1 includes a pavilion with restroom facilities, 4 miles of nature and walking trails, 4 wildlife viewing areas, picnic areas, fishing area for children 14 years of age and under and 65 years of age and older at Bridge Bob Pond and adult fishing on slews and the Sabine River, and a canoe rest area on the Sabine River.
