The complex houses the Live Oak Room, a 5,000 sq. ft. auditorium complete with stage, dressing rooms, ticket booths, and folding wall partitions allowing for the division of the large room into smaller areas, if desired. Four other meeting rooms are also available (some with Kitchenettes), giving Meredith Hall the versatility to accommodate any size function from banquets and conventions to receptions, proms, pageants, concerts, recitals, family and class reunions, service club meetings, training seminars, etc. The modern and fully staffed kitchen can also provide delicious catered meals. |

The Meredith Foundation was formed in 1958 by Harrison Wilbert Meredith. Born in Kentucky, he moved to Mineola, Texas in 1907. Investments in the oil industry and banking interests were the base for the wealth that he accumulated. He founded the Meredith Foundation to supervise and direct the earnings of his estate which he left to his adopted city, Mineola. The Foundation is governed by five trustees. A fifteen member Board of Directors, one-third elected annually, governs the Center. The construction of the Mineola Civic Center was made possible by a gift from the Meredith Foundation and the Foundation continues to subsidize maintenance and operating costs of the Center through Annual gifts. The Center also has income from rentals and catering and an Endowment Fund was set up to accept gifts of money or property. Interest from the Endowment Fund can be used for maintenance and operating expenses. No state, county or city funds were used in the construction or for the maintenance and operation of the Center. Mineola Civic Center, Inc. was organized to engage exclusively in charitable, scientific, literary, and educational activities and to furnish a meeting place for such activities. It is available to the people of Mineola and its surrounding trade area of Wood County. Since its organization and incorporation in 1972, the Center's scope has broadened. It is a focal point for area activities, but people from all over Texas and the United States gather there to enjoy its benefits.
