The City of Mineola is committed to supporting efforts that address food insecurity and provide vital resources to our residents. With 15.4% of our community living below the poverty line, ensuring access to nutritious food is a key priority. The City is working alongside organizations such as the East Texas Food Bank and local food pantries to help connect residents with available resources, including: Bread of Life Ministries Kindness Kottage Rosehill Food Pantry Mineola High School Football Parking Lot (Mobile Pantry) Mineola United Methodist Church (Senior Box) Additionally, community programs such as the Kids Backpack Program, Summer Free Food Program, and Senior Box Program provide essential support for families and individuals. Residents can also seek assistance through the Benefits Assistance Program, which helps eligible individuals apply for services such as SNAP, Medicaid, and CHIP. The City encourages residents to learn more about available food assistance programs and ways to get involved. The Yoga & Hike event hosted by Emma Brian was a wonderful success! A big thank you to Emma for her generosity in offering this experience free of charge to our community. The Mineola Nature Preserve provided the perfect setting for a peaceful and rejuvenating yoga session, followed by a refreshing hike in nature. Due to the amazing turnout and positive feedback, Emma has graciously decided to host another session on Sunday, May 18th at 1:00 p.m. We hope to see you all there again—bring a friend and enjoy the experience together!

Join Us for the Pier Dedication at Mineola Nature Preserve! We invite you to the dedication ceremony for Bo's Pier at the Mineola Nature Preserve on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. This pier is being named in honor of former Mineola Mayor, E.F. "Bo" Whitus, whose dedication and hard work transformed the bare river bottom into a beautiful space for all of us to enjoy. Everyone is welcome to attend the dedication ceremony. Afterward, the family will be serving lunch at the Derby Pavilion to celebrate this special occasion. We look forward to seeing you there!

Call 903-569-6183 to confirm. > For the safety of all, observe and abide by all signage and directions. > If trails are closed due to weather or maintenance, please honor temporary signs. > Horses and riders must remain within designated areas while loading and unloading. > Stay on designated trails. Do not create new trails or diversions. > DO NOT ride on trails restricted to walking, such as railroad bed. > Horses must not be tethered to trees, shrubs, or other than designated park structures. > Please leave the Preserve better than you found it. Use litter barrels. Or pack it in and pack it out. > DOGS must be on leash. Failure to observe these guidelines will be cause for removal from the Preserve and a possible fine.

UPCOMING COURTHOUSE CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION County Judge Kevin White and Wood County Commissioners will honor the centennial of the 1925 Wood County Courthouse at their meeting at 9 a.m., Tuesday, March 18, in Quitman, Texas. Following the meeting, the county historical commission will have displays in the courthouse until 4 p.m. The Wood County Historical Commission’s building will be open from 10 a.m.-noon.

Mr. Darrell Martin had the incredible opportunity to enjoy a Falcon Experience, which he won as a result of his donation to the Mineola Nature Preserve. Heath Kinder from Birds of Prey graciously offered this prize to those who contributed during special events at the Preserve and Mr. Martin was the lucky winner of the drawing. What an unforgettable experience this must have been for Mr. Martin! He thoroughly enjoyed the event and expressed his appreciation. A heartfelt thank you to Heath Kinder for his continued support and contributions to the Mineola Nature Preserve. Your efforts are truly valued and appreciated!
