PRESS RELEASE: (12-22-2020) COVID-19 Update - Wood County Rolls Back to 50% Occupancy; Bars Close

MINEOLA, TX – December 22, 2020 – On December 22, 2020, the City of Mineola was notified by Wood County Judge Lucy Hebron that a letter from Texas Health and Human Services has been received in her office stating that counties located within Trauma Service Area (TSA) G, which includes Wood County, have exceeded the 15% hospitalization threshold, triggering temporary changes in occupancy levels and/or closures per Gov. Abbott’s Executive Order GA-32, issued Oct. 7, 2020.

According to Judge Hebron, effective as of Dec. 22, 2020, bars and any businesses that derive 51% of sales from alcohol sales must close immediately.  Other businesses must go down from 75% occupancy to 50% occupancy unless and until the hospitalization rates go below 15% for a 7 day straight period.
