For Immediate Release

Lucy Hebron, Wood County Judge
Feb. 5, 2021

I have received notification from the Texas Department of State Health Services that Wood County no longer meets the definition of a high hospitalization area; therefore, we are able to reopen to the higher levels allowable under Governor Abbott’s Executive Order GA-32. In addition, licensed hospitals in our Trauma Service Area may resume elective surgeries as set forth in Executive Order GA-32.

With regard to bars and similar establishments, I have filed the requisite form with the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission to allow bars and similar establishments to open at the capacity outlined in GA-32 and have received the necessary approval.

While we are able to open at higher capacities, it is very important that we remain diligent in our efforts to be safe and stay well.

Thank you for your cooperation in these efforts.
