COVID-19 Update

MINEOLA, TX – April 30, 2020 – On April 27, 2020, Governor Greg Abbott issued Executive Order No. GA-18, relating to the expanded reopening of services in the state.  Restrictions and guidelines are outlined in this order.

On April 28, 2020, County Judge Lucy Hebron issued a Second Amended Order of Declaration of Local Disaster which outlined control measures for those persons being tested for COVID-19 or Persons Under Investigation, and adopting Governor Abbott’s Executive Order in full and as amended.

At this time, there are eight (8) confirmed COVID-19 cases in Wood County.  This means Wood County as a whole will be eligible to a 25% reopening as outlined in GA-18.  Mineola restaurants and certain retail as outlined in the order will be able to open at 25% of total occupancy beginning May 1, 2020 at 12:01 a.m.  Mineola officials have attempted to reach out to businesses to help them determine that number.  If your business is eligible for re-opening and you do not know your total occupancy, please contact the City of Mineola and we will assist you with that determination.

Texas Health and Human Services is offering mobile COVID-19 test collection for Wood County this Friday, May 1, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Mineola Civic Center, located at 1150 N. Newsom.  Testing is by appointment only. Screening and registration will begin on April 30th.  Please call 512-883-2400 or visit  https://txcovidtest.org/  to be screened and register for testing on May 1.
