PRESS RELEASE 4/1/2020 - CITY OF MINEOLA TO FOLLOW NEW AMENDED ORDER OF DECLARATION OF LOCAL DISASTER DUE TO PUBLIC HEALTH EMERGENCY FOR WOOD COUNTY, TEXAS “STAY HOME STAY SAFE” ORDER ISSUED APRIL 1, 2020 BY JUDGE HEBRON OF WOOD COUNTY EFFECTIVE TODAY BY 11:59 P.M.  THIS ORDER ALSO COMPLIES WITH GOVERNOR GREG ABBOTT, STATE OF TEXAS MARCH 31, 2020 EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. GA-14 DURING THE COVID-19 DISASTER.

The City of Mineola will be complying with all current Federal, State and County orders effective today at 11:59 p.m.  Attached with this press release (at bottom of page) is the latest signed order from Wood County Judge Lucy Hebron, which was issued this morning.  The “STAY HOME STAY SAFE” Order is an amendment to the Wood County’s current Disaster Declaration, along with Governor Abbott’s new executive order no. GA-14(link is external).  These orders will continue to date until the Governor terminates the Texas Disaster Declaration.

The Stay Home Stay Safe order requires all individuals anywhere in Wood County to stay home except for certain essential activities and work to provide essential business and government to continue to function.  It states all businesses except essential business or “Locked Business” cease all activities at facilities in Wood County except for minimum basic operations. 

All businesses may continue operations consisting exclusively of employees or contractors working at their own residences, while continuing the practice set forth by “Social Distancing”. Non Essential business including Entertainment (Theaters, Museum, and Bowling Alley), Personal Hygiene (Hair Salons, Barber Shops, Nail Salons, Tattoo Parlors, Massage Studios), Some Retail (Clothing, Athletic Stores, Hobby Stores, Jewelry Stores, Cosmetic Stores) and Lifestyle Type Businesses such as Gyms, Restaurants (all Dine-in) and Bars.  All other businesses not specifically listed as Essential in the order are considered Non-Essentials.
