Brush, Leaf & Limb Pickup

The City of Mineola will pick up leaf and limb debris for residential customers inside city limits, as long as they meet the criteria listed below.  Please read carefully as brush will not be picked up if it does not comply with the ordinance.  Please note that oversize loads may not be picked up.  DO NOT PLACE LEAFS, LIMBS OR BRUSH IN CITY STREETS!  Debris must be placed in the yard behind the curb.  Grass clippings will not be picked up.

 

SCHEDULE: (Residential Only)

Brush and limb pickup occurs once per month.  Trucks begin their route on the first working day of the month.  They start at the south end of town and work their way north.  Leaf pickup runs from November through April.  Beginning in 2024, limb pickup will run from September through May.  City of Mineola residents may bring their yard trimmings to the city burn site at the end of Bromberg Street if they do not wish to wait on city crews.  These schedules may be modified or suspended due to weather, staffing or equipment failure.  

 

Brush and Limb Pickup (Ord 19-10-28-1)

  1. Brush, limbs and leaves shall be piled separately behind the curb or on the edge of the street for pickup collection.  No such vegetation shall be allowed in any street, alleyway or public right of way.
  2. Brush, limbs and leaves shall not be placed in such a manner as to restrict, hinder or interfere with the flow of traffic, normal drainage or the use of City Streets.  
  3. Brush, limbs and leaves shall not be placed on top of any utility meter box, or in such a manner as to restrict, hinder or interfere with the ability to access said meter box.
  4. Brush, limbs and leaves shall be prepared for collection as follows:
    1. Brush: Shall be placed separately from leaves and limbs and shall be free from other waste. The failure to do so will result in the brush remaining until such time as it is separated.
    2. Limbs: 
      1. Limbs six (6) inches or smaller in diameter shall be cut into 36 inch lengths.
      2. Limbs or logs greater than six (6) inches in diameter should be cut into 31 inch lengths.
      3. In the event limbs are placed in an area not accessible by city equipment, limbs and brush shall be placed behind the curb or on the edge of the street, but in all respects, in accordance with the provisions of this ordinance.
    3. Leaves: Shall be separated from brush, limbs and other solid waste, including, but not limited to, bricks, brick bats, wire, glass, metal or other similar material which may impair or damage the leaf machine or other device used to collect leaves.  The failure to do so will result in the leaves remaining until such time as it is separated.
